Weekend Roundup – January 4, 2019

Posted: January 4, 2019

Happy New Year, friends! How quickly a year has passed, but with a new year comes excitement of the new adventures to take, and new experiences to make. To shake that winter chill, or lift spirits after those holiday blues, explore your local community for some fun, and some free, weekend events.

Ancaster

What are your Sunday brunch plans? Head to the beautiful Ancaster Mill for a Champagne Sunday Brunch featuring classic brunch items, such as eggs Benedict, omelettes, waffles, crepes, and delectable favourites. https://ancastermill.ca/

Burlington

Visit the Mainway Ice Centre on Saturday, January 5th for an afternoon, or evening, of free skating. Admittance is first come first serve, and skate times are from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., and again at 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Lace up, and make it a family fun afternoon, or a date night. https://calendar.burlington.ca/?StartDate=12/19/2018&EndDate=03/20/2019&Calendar=Drop-In%20Recreation%20Schedules&Category=Skating&Type=Free%20Skating&Page=1

Is holiday decoration decluttering on this weekend’s to-do list? If so, don’t drag your bushy boughs to the curb, instead the Royal Botanical Gardens wants your Christmas trees. These festive trees are used as barriers at the mouth of Grindstone creek, which helps the RBG rebuild creek channels and creates a barrier from the destructive activity of carp. Now that’s what I call a Green Christmas. Trees will only be accepted at the following addresses: Below Laking Garden (1200 Spring Garden Rd Burlington), or at Princess Point (335 Longwood Road, Hamilton).
