Weekend Roundup – February 22, 2019

Posted: February 22, 2019

Friends, let’s get acquainted with some community weekend fun. The weekend is almost here, and there really is nothing better than two full days ahead of you to fill with whatever you want. So without further ado, here’s a list of what is happening throughout our local communities to ensure a fun-filled weekend.

Spring is just around the corner, but if you need some early spring cleaning/renovation inspiration then head to the  Ancaster Lifestyle Spring Home Show this weekend at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Meet local home and lifestyle experts to help you with your next home project, and shop for reno supplies ranging from windows, doors, roofing, garden soil, painters, countertops, HVAC, and more.

If you are looking for a deal of a meal, then it’s your lucky month as  Taste of Burlington is back to satisfy your taste buds. Over 41 restaurants across Burlington are offering special meals and drinks to celebrate delicious eats and scrumptious sips. Visit a participating restaurant this weekend.

Escape the cold and transport yourself to a tropical flower oasis at the Royal Botanical Gardens for the  38th Annual Spring Orchid Show and Sale. The Annual Show showcases the beauty and diversity of orchids. Judged by the American Orchid Society, it features orchid displays by societies and growers from across Canada and the USA. There are also exhibits of flower arrangements, painting, photographs, and plant sales.

It’s cold out there! The  Coldest Night of the Year is on Saturday, February 23, 2019. CNOY is a family-friendly national walk-a-thon that helps raise funds for charities that serve hungry, homeless and hurting people across Canada. Participate in your local community CNOY, or head to St. James United Church at 306 Parkside Drive in Waterdown, and walk with your community neighbours.

Other notable fun experiences: Enjoy a sweet pancake breakfast at a local  Sugar Shack, visit  Ridge Road Winery in Stoney Creek for a wine tasting, or take a hike to  Dundas Peak for breathtaking #views.
