Weekend Roundup – February 15, 2019

Posted: February 15, 2019

Cheers, to the long weekend, friends! Three glorious days ahead of us to get out and about, or to stay in and relax. Whatever your long weekend #goals are, we hope you have fun celebrating Family Day, or a belated V-Day date. Most importantly, if you’re looking for something to keep you busy in and around our local communities, then keep on reading. Have fun exploring, and enjoy the extra day of down time.

Burlington

Celebrate Family Day at Ireland House Museum. Visit the Museum and see what life was like for the three generations of the Ireland family. Built in 1837, this building is one of Burlington’s oldest heritage homes. Visitors on Family Day will have the opportunity to explore the Ireland family home, watch cookie demonstrations, sample the sweet treats by the fireplace, as well as create a family keepsake craft. Admission is $15.00.

Dundas

Everyone is welcome at the 2019 Dundas Rotary Winter Carnival on Monday from 12 – 4pm! Free skating at the rink, horse drawn sleigh rides around the park, exhibition from the Dundas Figure Skating Club, music, and free hot chocolate.  Grab your family and friends, and head to Dundas Driving Park.

Hamilton

The Hamilton Artists Inc. invites you to explore your creativity through the art of paper crafts this Saturday from 1 – 4pm! Join the artists at the Gallery on James Street where the Inc. instructor will provide a tutorial on how to make winter themed paper crafts. Learn about family, community and sharing through this free, hands-on craft day. Hot chocolate and snacks will be provided.

Visit the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology National Historic Site to witness the social and mechanical life of Canada’s early industrial revolution. Housed in a 150-year-old Waterworks, this National Historic Site preserves two 70-ton steam powered water-pumping engines. The historic Hamilton Waterworks is a Civil and Power Engineering Landmark. Tour the grounds this weekend.
